ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM

The endocannabinoid system has been recently recognized as an important modulatory system in the function of brain, endocrine, and immune tissues. It appears to play a very important regulatory role in the secretion of hormones related to reproductive functions and response to stress. One of the keys to the endocannabinoid system is Cannabidiol otherwise known as CBD

HOW CAN CBD POTENTIALLY RECOVER THE ATHLETE

PAIN:

Cannabis is an analgesic, possibly helping to alleviate pain both during and after exercise.

INFLAMMATION:

CBD can be extremely effective in managing inflammation post exercise. Cannabinoids are potent anti-inflammatory agents and they exert their effects through induction of apoptosis, inhibition of cell proliferation, suppression of cytokine production and induction of T-regulatory cells (Tregs).https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2828614/

RELAXATION:

Cannabinoids are known to have both relaxing and sedative effects on users. Getting the required sleep each night is perhaps the most important aspect of being a healthy athlete – muscles grow and recover best during deep sleep.

REDUCTION OF MUSCLE SPASMS:

Cannabinoids are known to have antispasmodic properties. Some causes of muscle spasms in athletes include straining of a muscle, dehydration, trauma, and damage to nerves.

NEUROPROTECTANT:

In several studies CBD has been shown to decrease inflammation while offering protection for the heart, lungs, and brain during and after injury. In fact, the short-term neuroprotective effects of CBD in the brain continue to be researched for purposes of treating sports concussions.
